I started with the Trust in March 2025. Previous to this I have worked in nurseries, primary and secondary schools in various support roles. One of these was as a family support worker. I then supported the school in a HR officer role.
My qualifications include NNEB nursery nursing L3, NVQ assessor / verifier L3 / L4, CIPD Foundation L3, HNC early childhood education and care, leadership and management L5.
My passion has always been with children and education since an early age, where I helped my mum who is a foster carer, so I knew I wanted to come into this field of work.
I have worked in education finance for 25 years. Along with school finance, my role also encompassed work within the local cluster and also managing the finances of the local Family Support Team who provided support and therapeutic services to the local community. This culminated in my promotion to Chief Finance Officer within a successful Multi Academy Trust. I led the Trust’s finance strategy with a firm commitment to collaborative working, and helped build a strong and effective Trust where schools flourish and achieve strong results.
I read English Literature at Oxford University and then attended the College of Law at Lancaster Gate qualifying as a Solicitor. In time I became a partner in two Central London law firms, specialising in commercial litigation and employment law.
After 20 years of legal practice I moved away from London and the law, and together with my wife ran a small business in Penrith (the Narrowbar Cafe) for 13 years.
I now work part-time at the Good Shepherd MAT as its payroll support officer. I am enjoying applying some of what I have previously learned in other positions to the benefit of the Trust’s employees, while at the same time learning something new to myself: the internal workings of a thriving multi academy trust.
I’m married (for 33 years and counting) with 3 children (all grown up and left home). When I’m not working you will mostly find me fell walking, playing golf, reading, watching old films or listening to music.
I graduated from the University of Cumbria in 2024 with a degree in Early Years and Primary Education. I work for The Good Shepherd Trust part-time as Governance Officer and also teach part-time in a KS1 class. I am leading communications and marketing for the Trust in partnership with Geo & Co.
I graduated from Lancaster University in 2023 and have enjoyed a varied start to my career, gaining experience as an archaeologist and a children’s events coordinator before taking on my latest role as a financial assistant at the Good Shepherd Trust. My key responsibility within the trust is dealing with school expenditure, and I like to bake (semi-regularly) for the team. Outside of work I enjoy walking, snowboarding, crochet and gaming and I collect special edition books.
